Downtown Durham is on the rise! There are restaurants and bars along Main Street near Brightleaf Square, and live music is offered in several spots in the summer months.
There is plenty of parking in downtown Durham, including a big lot behind Fowler's restaurant. You can also park along the street, or near the train tracks.
The old tobacco warehouses are a prominent feature you will see downtown. Durham developers have taken pains to restore these so that they will not be torn down.
The current project is public space downtown, including fountains, benches, green space--a huge public works project is going on to renovate the downtown loop.
