Research Triangle Park (RTP) is located in Durham County, North Carolina. It was formed in the 1950s after much fundraising from individuals and businesses across North Carolina.

The first business located in RTP was the Research Triangle Institute, which is still in operation. After IBM and NIEHS were established in RTP, other businesses relocated to RTP, including those focusing on biotechnology, chemical, electronics, bioscience, information technology, and pharmaceuticals, as well as several nonprofits and service providers.

Some names you might recognize are: IBM, DuPont, the EPA, Cisco, Nortel, Burroughs Wellcome, and Bank of America.
